Cornell University Plant Disease Diagnostic Clinic Sample Fees |
The Cornell University Plant Disease Diagnostic Clinic offers high quality, state-of-the-art services and testing methods to help you determine the cause of your plant problem. The cost of these services is provided in the chart below. The in-state fee provides a discount to New York State residents that pay taxes to the state and therefore, have invested in the land grant university mission. |
|
The fees described below are provided here to give submitters a general guide for the cost of testing and the various test procedures performed. The procedures performed to determine the cause of a plant problem are dependent upon what is available. All techniques listed are not available for all plant pathogens and many techniques perform better using a specific portion of the plant or growth stage. Consultation with the laboratory staff may be needed to learn what testing is available and what testing can be performed. |

Molecular analysis fee(s) depend on the target organism and reagents needed to fulfill the requested testing. Therefore, fees are established at the time of request through client-staff discussion and determination of the scope of work to be completed. |
Molecular analysis includes one more of the following:
selecting appropriate material and DNA extraction, conventional or q PCR, double nested PCR that includes two full runs using the product of run 1 for run 2,
amplification of DNA, clean-up and sequencing |
To be determined |
Note: For a few select procedures that require specific commercial testing kits, per sample fees may be higher than posted here. The increase is needed to cover the cost of some of the higher price kits. Clients will be notified of the fee before any testing is done. |
